Why do some of your soaps have a nut allergy warning?
The safety an health of our customers is always number one. We are aware that certain individuals have an extreme nut allergy (those who are allergic to actual skin contact with nuts) and that those individuals can also have a reaction to any product that contains nuts. Therefore we always label a product that has nut products in it. Shea Butter is also derived from a nut, so we label that too. We know a skin allergy to nuts is very rare, but feel we are obligated to inform our customers. None of our products contain peanuts in any form. So, even if people say we are going overboard, we would rather let our customers make an educated choice for themselves, and believe in full disclosure regarding our ingredients.
Is your soap the same as those store glycerin bars?
Most clear glycerin soap sold in the stores are actually made clear by using alcohol. They are usually a combination of foaming agents, chemical agents alcohol and the standard oil, water and lye. Our soaps contain NO alcohol or chemicals!
Why is Sodium Hydroxide (a saponifying agent) listed in the ingredients list?
Sodium Hydroxide (Lye) is a necessary ingredient in all soap making. The Sodium Hydroxide mixes with oil, water and butters and causes a chemical reaction called saponification. In other words, the oil and lye combine to make soap. In a properly made bar of soap, all of the lye and oil are consumed by the reaction and only the soap remains. We list ingredients on the label in the order in which they were placed into the soap batch. A little side note: A soap that is made without lye cannot be defined as soap, is usually chemical in nature, and commonly sold as a beauty bar, cleansing agent or body wash
What is the weight on your soap bars?
All of our soaps are made in small batches by hand from start to finish, therefore they are all unique. We hand trim each and every batch and each individual bar. This does create some small variation in sizes. The weight listed on the bars is the average weight.
Some of the soap you sell is colored, is that natural?
Sometimes we decide that a soap just feels like it needs to be a certain color. When we do decide to color a soap we try to use either natural colorants (parsley, cinnamon etc.), Iron Oxides (which are pigments that are generally considered to be all natural), or Mica minerals. We strictly adhere to manufactures recommendations for safe levels of colorants. A good test to see if a soap bar exceeds colorant limits, wash your hands in a white sink. If the lather is not white but is colored, there is a good chance that too much color was used. We have found this to be true with several expensive & popular soaps on the market.
Will the Fragrance from the soap stay on my skin all day?
We believe that a soap is to be enjoyed during the bathing experience and should cleanse away impurities and dirt leave your skin clean without any residues of any kind. (including fragrances) That being said, individual fragrance manufacturers do test and post safe limits for their products and we strictly adhere to their recommendations for safe levels but still try to provide the strongest scent possible. Some fragrance will tend to be stronger and linger while others create a wonderful scent to be enjoyed while bathing
My Soap was white or clear but has now turned to a tan/light brown color.
Sometimes we use fragrance oils that contain vanilla or use natural vanilla in our soaps. Vanilla will naturally darken the soap over time. This is a natural reaction and in no way alters the quality of the soap.
My bar of Natural Glycerin Soap has crystals on it or appears to be sweating, is it safe to use?
The official word for this sweating is "Glycerin Dew" and occurs in soaps like ours that have a very high glycerin content and no chemicals. Glycerin is a natural humectant which means that it will naturally attract moisture in the air to itself (and your skin!). Humid climates or warm moist bathrooms experience the issue the most. Fortunately, the crystals in no way affect the soap at all.
Are Essential Oils safer than Fragrance Oils?
Not necessarily. An essential oil is derived from a fruit, leaf, root, stem and/or flower. Caution must be used if you have an allergy to a certain plant as the reaction may be exaggerated with the essential oil since it is a concentrated form of the plant material. And while essential oils do carry many therapeutic benefits, it is always a good idea to consult a physician before using any product that contains essential oils. (That's why we label that on every bar of soap we produce that contains essential oils). Certain conditions like High Blood Pressure, Kidney Disease or pregnancy can be adversely affected by the use of essential oils. Essential oils are wonderful if used with caution and knowledge and we use only 100% certified natural essential oils. When we choose to use fragrance oils in our products, we are committed to using only high quality scents that comply with global RIFM and IFRA standards and strictly adhere to the IFRA usage levels.
How long will each soap bar last?
Soap in general has a shelf life of years. We recommend using our soap within 6 months only to enjoy the freshest ingredients and fragrance! Our soaps are shrink wrapped when they are shipped to you to ensure the best preservation of scent and color possible. Once you take off the shrink wrap, you will be able to fully experience the scent and feel of the soap. The life on an individual bar in the shower will depend on your bathing habits. You can expect the bar to last two to three weeks. The most important thing is to remember to place your soap in a dish that drains to extend the longevity. The fastest way to make your soap disappear is to leave it in standing water.
Do you use organic oils in your soaps?
We currently do not use organic oils, but have considered it if we were to receive enough interest. Please e-mail us if you would like a custom soap made with organic coconut and palm oils
Are the weights listed exact?
Most of our soap bars are made in the format of a long bar , or loaf, which gets cut by hand into smaller sections when the soap is complete. We try our bast to make each bar as equal as even as possible, but variations will occur in the weights. Most bars may even be slightly heavier than listed.
How long will it take to get my order?
Depending on what you order will affect when you will receive your order. We hand make all of our items and only in very small batches to ensure the very freshest product. If we have a batch of the item recently made, we will ship the same day or next day that the order is received. If we have to make the item to order, it will take longer. We ask to allow 2-4 weeks for delivery but if you need it sooner or are in doubt, please never hesitate to e-mail us!
What shipping carrier do you use?
Orders are shipped via USPS Priority Mail and typically arrive in three (3) business days (Monday through Friday, not including holidays). We currently only ship within the United States. Please make sure that your shipping address information is correct.

Do you collect sales Tax: Any sales shipped to a Connecticut address are subject to Connecticut Sales Tax of 6.35%. If your purchase is shipped to an address outside of Connecticut, it may be subject to tax in that state or jurisdiction. The purchaser are responsible for insuring that such taxes are paid if that is the case.
